Is there anything better than the early days of summer? Beachy tunes make up your playlists, flowers are everywhere, mangos are ripe, swimsuits are for sale; everything seems a little brighter. The sense of freedom is immense as months of adventure await!
It’s easy to get swept up in the summer mindset. I spent my first week of vacay exploring the west coast, where the weather is in upper sixties, lower seventies. While I imagined myself soaking up the Cali sun in my lavender bikini, I quickly realized that pants were required. It’s only May, and unless you live somewhere where it is eternally hot (aka Florida), it might be a bit of a wait before you can swap those sweaters for swimsuits. No worries, though! You can still channel chill (literally!) beach vibes with warmer clothes.
There’s nothing more beautiful than catching a sunrise or a sunset on the beach. Despite the cool temperature, I drove down to San Clemente to watch the sunset on the water. I started my look with a breezy, button-down top. The frayed edges, thin stripes, and billowy silhouette gives the outfit a laid back, nautical touch.
I layered this top with a faux leather jacket from Forever 21. Faux leather is the way to go! The urban edge of this jacket meshes perfectly with the beachy button down top. Throw on some dark skinny jeans, and you have achieved what I call California Chill!
