I woke up this morning to hazy skies and a barely there drizzle. Although my heart yearned for Netflix and pajamas, my schedule called for class. Rather than let the weather get me down, I did what any fashionista would do! I took inspiration from the gloom and put on my cutest raincoat.

Blue is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of rain, so I built my outfit around different denim pieces! I think that double denim has previously been a fashion taboo, but has established itself as a chic ensemble in recent years. The key to pulling off this trend is to coordinate your blue shades appropriately. I opted for a light chambray button down top and medium wash skinny jeans. Beware of matching blue denim separates that are polar opposites!

This look has the potential to go understated, making it the ideal blank canvas for accessories. I slipped on a dainty silver necklace that drapes down in three layers. The electric blue nails were an unintentional bonus!

My number one piece of advice for rainy days? Don’t forget to grab a raincoat before you walk out the door! My Free People raincoat is a wardrobe staple! I even prefer it to an umbrella, because I can go hands free. The creme color matches everything and I love its delicate feminine details: lacy pattern, scalloped edges, and oversized pockets.

Don’t let the rain hinder your sense of style! Just capture the mood and make it work!
